“Pasión Tango – The Story”
Concert for Cello, Piano & Reading
An actor reads memories of Astor Piazzolla and text passages about the Tango’s astonishing story
“Hi Lefty“– the forceful Tanguero”
A left hook! Astor Piazzolla’s fist lands with full impact on his rival’s chin. In broad daylight, in the middle of Buenos Aires’ traffic heap. From childhood onwards he had to fight his way literally with his fist. New York’s other street children mocked him because of his limping. Eventually they called him “Lefty” because of his strong left fist. Now, as an adult he has to defend himself against the Argentinians and their hate for his ‚Tango Nuevo’. This has never been his plan. His heart has always beaten for Bach and Jazz. To be a classic composer was all he ever wanted. But then everything went a different way.
The silence is absolute when the stories are told. And jubilation when cellist Friedrich Kleinhapl and pianist Andreas Woyke play the Tangos with full passion.
